“Altered Ego” is the debut indie feature film from Portland, Oregon–based filmmakers and graphic novel team, The Pander Brothers. Completed in 2008, the low-budget thriller— originally titled Selfless—was filmed in Portland and garnered top honors at the 2008 BendFilm Festival, including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Supporting Actor for Mo Gallini (2 Fast 2 Furious, Mulholland Drive) in his chilling role as professional identity thief Wesley Stone. In 2009, Selfless also won Best Cinematography at the Albuquerque Film Festival.

Soon after, the movie secured a limited VOD release with Comcast, followed by a domestic distribution deal with Entertainment One (E1)— which promptly shelved the film for the full duration of its fifteen-year license.

In 2024, the Panders finally reacquired their movie. However, by then, Ryan Reynolds had starred in a 2015 studio release titled Self/Less, forcing the brothers to rebrand their film as “Altered Ego.” The newly retitled thriller is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
